Age-related macular degeneration is linked to vitamin D deficiency and specific genetic variants
In women, age-related macular degeneration, an eye disease linked to advancing age, affects more people with vitamin D deficiency, and this risk increases even more in those genetically predisposed due to particular gene variants. This was revealed in a study published in the journal JAMA Ophthalmology , was a team of researchers from the University of Buffalo (USA).
