Are Omega-3s Helpful for Chronic Lumbar Disc Disease?

Dear Barbara,

Painful conditions can benefit from the use of:

  • Omega-3 EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)
  • Omega-3 DHA (docosahexaenoic acid);
  • Omega-6 GLA (gamma-linolenic acid).

These fatty acids negatively influence the production of chemical mediators of pain (pro-inflammatory eicosanoids) favoring instead other substances with anti-inflammatory and inflammation-resolving action.

In your case, the Omega-3/Omega-6 combination could be useful to:

  • alleviate the chronic pain associated with your condition;
  • help reduce the use of NSAIDs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Voltaren.

Therefore, the most suitable product for your case is Omegor Twinefa, a synergistic formulation obtained from the combination of deodorized fish oil with a high content of EPA-DHA (min. 60%) and borage oil (a natural source rich in GLA). The recommended dosage is 1 to 3 softgels per day, to be taken before meals for at least 2 months, the time needed to experience the effectiveness of the supplementation.

Please feel free to contact us again, and I remain at your disposal for any further questions.
