Can Omegor Vitality be taken during pregnancy?
Good morning, can Omegor Vitality be taken for long periods during pregnancy and with gastritis and hiatal hernia? Thank you.
Dear Barbara,
Omegor Vitality is not the most suitable product for pregnancy, as it mainly contains omega-3 EPA, while DHA supplementation is more appropriate during pregnancy. DHA is the omega-3 with important structural functions in the membranes of neurons and photoreceptors in the retina, making it essential for proper brain and visual development.
DHA supplementation is recommended during both pregnancy and breastfeeding. Adequate DHA intake by the mother can provide the fetus, and later the newborn through breast milk, with a sufficient amount of this omega-3. DHA is important not only for the baby's development but also for the mother's health.
During pregnancy, the fetus draws DHA from the mother’s reserves for its growth, and after childbirth, the mother's DHA reserves decrease drastically, increasing the risk of postpartum depression, and requiring 2 to 3 years to be replenished. Among our supplements, I recommend VITADHA Materna, a product specifically for pregnancy, based on fish oil with a high DHA concentration (250 mg per capsule) and Quatrefolic (5-MTHF glucosamine salt), the active form of folate that does not need to be metabolized in the body and is therefore fully absorbable by all women. Other Omegor products recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding are: VitaDHA1000 in softgel capsules containing 1000 mg of fish oil.
Each capsule provides 470 mg of DHA and 100 mg of EPA. The recommended dosage is 1-2 capsules per day, preferably with a meal. VitaDHA Liquid in single-dose vials containing 6 g of deodorized fish oil, flavored with lemon. Each vial provides 1450 mg of DHA and 330 mg of EPA. The recommended dosage is 1 vial every other day. The oil can be taken as is or added to yogurt, beverages, and foods that are lukewarm or cold.
In the case of gastritis and hiatal hernia, these last two products can be helpful in addressing the inflammatory component typical of these conditions.
I remain available for further information.
