Ask the Pharmacist

Cholesterol, what is the difference between Cardiol and Cardiol Forte?

Could you please explain the difference between the capsules of CARDIOL and CARDIOL FORTE? Thank you, I look forward to your reply. Enrico

Dear Enrico,

Both Cardiol and Cardiol Forte have complex and specific formulations aimed at normalizing cholesterol levels. We could say that the difference between the two products lies in the more or less "strong" action of the supplement, meaning differently calibrated formulations.

Cardiol

In cases of borderline cholesterol with values above 200 mg/dL and up to 239 mg/dL – the most suitable product is definitely Cardiol. Cardiol contains omega‐3, plant extracts such as red yeast rice, a source of monacolin K (3 mg/capsule), policosanols, bioflavonoids from Citrus, and B vitamins to act on normalizing blood cholesterol levels and more generally on cardiovascular protection.

Cardiol Forte for higher cholesterol levels

Instead, in cases of higher blood cholesterol values (>240 mg/dL) or more severe hypercholesterolemia, it is advisable to choose the product Cardiol Forte. Cardiol Forte has a higher dose of monacolin K (10 mg/capsule) – the natural statin useful for maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels. It is also enriched with natural Vitamin E and hydroxytyrosol, a polyphenol from olive, to protect blood lipids and cells from oxidative stress. It also contains high-dose Coenzyme Q10 (100 mg/capsule) to compensate for the deficiency that occurs with statin or statin-like treatments.

Dosage advice

For both products, the dosage is one capsule per day, to be taken in the evening before dinner for at least 2 months, in combination with a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. After two months of supplementation, it is preferable to repeat tests to verify the effectiveness of the treatment and monitor any progress. I remain available for any further information and recommend informing your doctor if you decide to start dietary supplementation with Cardiol or Cardiol Forte – because the doctor should always be informed of any dietary adjustments or supplements, especially when combined with pharmacological therapies.
