Can I take Omega-3 capsules if I am allergic to fish?
My daughter is 17 years old and allergic to fish: can she take Omega-3 capsules during a hair treatment or other therapeutic treatments? Is it possible to replace them with other supplements that provide the same benefits? Thank you.
Dear Antonio,
the substances that trigger hypersensitivity reactions are the fish proteins.
The oil in the supplements is derived from molecularly distilled anchovy oil (about 99%) and sardine oil (the remaining 1%).
This process eliminates any presence of proteins in the final product: therefore, Omega-3 concentrated oil should not trigger hypersensitivity reactions, even in people allergic to certain types of fish. The algal oil used in Omegor Kids could be a good alternative. Omegor Kids is a liquid supplement containing 200 mg of Omega-3 DHA.
It is available in single-dose sachets, a formulation with honey, vitamin C, and vitamin D3.
I hope this has been helpful and thank you for contacting us.
Kind regards
