Ask the Pharmacist

I have a child with attention problems, which supplement is best for him?

Dear Isabella,

As a general premise, I recommend considering dietary supplements as nutritional support with nutritive and physiological effects that promote the proper functioning of the body. Based on the information you provided, the product VitaDHA in single-dose vials is the most suitable for your child; however, I recommend consulting your pediatrician or specialist. Generally, children with attention deficits or hyperactivity benefit from consuming DHA, an omega-3 that plays important structural roles in the nervous system and retina, as also described in several articles published on our blog.

Moreover, some studies have shown that children with these issues often have low DHA levels. The oil in VitaDHA can be taken directly from the vial, or poured onto a spoon since it is free from fishy odor/taste and flavored with lemon, or it can be added to yogurt, spreadable cheeses, or smoothies.

The recommended dosage is 1 vial per day for at least 2 months. I remain available for any further information.
