Ask the Pharmacist

I have high cholesterol. What can I take?

Dear Madam,

Since you did not indicate in your email the LDL cholesterol levels found in your tests, I am providing below the characteristics of our product line that could be useful to help control both high and borderline cholesterol:

  • In case of borderline cholesterol with values above 200 mg/dL and up to 239 mg/dL, the most suitable product is definitely Cardiol, which contains omega-3 from fish oil, plant extracts such as fermented red rice as a source of monacolin K (3mg/capsule), policosanols, citrus bioflavonoids, and some B vitamins to act more specifically on normalizing blood cholesterol levels. The recommended dose for Cardiol is one softgel to be taken in the evening shortly before dinner for a period of at least 2 months, together with a balanced diet. After two months of supplementation, it is preferable to repeat tests to verify the effectiveness of the treatment.
  • In case of higher blood cholesterol values (>240 mg/dL), thus a more severe hypercholesterolemia, it is advisable to opt for the product Cardiol Forte, which has a higher dosage of monacolin K (10 mg/capsule), the natural statin useful for maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels. Also in this case, the recommended dose is 1 softgel to be taken in the evening for a period of two months; after this period, routine tests should be repeated.

The two aforementioned products are gluten-free and lactose-free. I recommend consulting your physician about the possibility of taking Cardiol or Cardiol Forte to act on your cholesterol levels—especially if you are also following pharmacological therapies.

I remain available for further information.

Best regards,
