Ask the Pharmacist

Is the oil in Vitality in esterified or triglyceride form?

I would like to know if the oil is in esterified or triglyceride form. Can it be purchased in pharmacies or online? I follow the Zone diet and use the related Enervit oil. Is there a difference in concentration compared to yours? If I want to take 2.5 grams of oil, how many capsules should I take per day? Thank you very much.

Dear Lorenzo,

Omegor Vitality is a very pure and concentrated supplement where Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA are in the form of re-esterified triglycerides (rTG). In the product you currently use, they are present in ethyl ester (EE) form.

Several scientific studies have shown that rTG is absorbed 50 to 100% better than EE. A recent study by Dyerberg J., the author who first demonstrated the benefits of Omega-3 for cardiovascular diseases (Plasma lipids and lipoproteins in Greenlandic west coast Eskimos. Acta Med Scand 1972;192(1-2): 85-94), definitively showed that Omega-3 in rTG form is absorbed 76% better than in EE form. You can consult the study at this link

For the Zone diet, a daily intake of 2.5 grams of EPA and DHA fatty acids is recommended: a dose of 3 to 4 capsules of Omegor Vitality 1000 per day meets this need. 3 capsules contain 1.89 grams of EPA+DHA (630 milligrams per capsule), which is equivalent to about 3.213 grams of EPA+DHA compared to products in EE form.

Our products are available in all pharmacies and drugstores. Our Omega-3 supplements can also be purchased online: this way you will be sure to receive the freshest product batch. I remain at your disposal for any further clarifications.
