My daughter is 4 months old: can she take Omega-3?

My daughter is 4 months old. Her five daily meals consist of Mellin 1 Soy powdered milk (we noticed she had a certain lactose intolerance). Considering the benefits I personally get from taking Omega-3, I would like to know if it is possible to start giving this valuable oil to my daughter. I can't find information regarding Omega-3 supplementation for infants, nor do I know the correct dosage: could you kindly provide guidance?

Dear Pierangelo,

Please note that the first 4–6 months of life are characterized by very rapid growth, especially of the brain.

The brain is composed of 60% fat, including Omega-3s, which our body is not able to produce on its own. Studies on this topic show that an intake of essential fatty acids during pregnancy and the first months of life can support the infant's mental and visual development. Most formulas and age-specific foods are already enriched with them.

As for dosage, the content of one OMEGOR Vitality 500 mg capsule (100 mg DHA) is, in my opinion, to be considered as the minimum dose. In its flavored liquid formulation, VitaDHA liquid is a supplement specifically designed to support the health of infants and pregnant women, as it contains an ideal DHA:EPA ratio of 5.1. I hope I have been helpful and I wish you a good evening.
