How much DHA is in your supplements?
Dear Rita,
Our product VitaDHA is a high-quality docosahexaenoic acid supplement, DHA PlusTM, in a highly bioavailable natural triglyceride form.
Each single-dose sachet contains 1,250 milligrams of DHA and 360 milligrams of EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) in a liquid formulation with lemon flavor. Supplementation with Omega-3 DHA is especially recommended in your condition, as it is found in high concentrations in the membranes of the retinal rod cells.
Researchers at Harvard Medical School in Boston studied the use of DHA in a group of patients with retinitis pigmentosa. Results showed that DHA supplementation, in combination with vitamin A, slows both the progression of retinitis pigmentosa and the decline in visual field sensitivity. You can view the full study on retinitis pigmentosa at this page.
The recommended dosage is 1 sachet per day, taken on its own or added to plain yogurt, preferably before the main meal (to promote better absorption of active ingredients). I remain available for further clarification.
Best regards, Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
