Ask the Pharmacist

Which cholesterol control product is suitable if you are allergic to Monacolin K?

Dear Luciano,

Considering your wife's allergy, the product I recommend is Eulipid, a dietary supplement in tablets that contains neither fish oil nor red yeast rice. Its main component is Berberine, a plant-derived substance that facilitates the "capture" of cholesterol by the liver.

This natural substance is extracted from Berberis aristata, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. Berberine, as demonstrated by several scientific studies, exerts, in addition to its action on circulating lipids, a positive effect on blood glucose levels.

Each Eulipid tablet, in addition to containing 500 milligrams of Berberine, also provides various antioxidant and anti-inflammatory substances such as Citrus bioflavonoids, policosanols, resveratrol, tocotrienols, and CoQ10, useful for rebalancing total cholesterol, "bad" cholesterol, and blood triglyceride levels.

The recommended daily dose of Eulipid is 1 tablet per day, preferably taken before dinner.

To also keep triglycerides under control, you can combine Eulipid with another supplement: Meaquor 1000, a product based on EPA and DHA that helps maintain normal blood triglyceride levels. The recommended dose is 2 or 3 capsules per day to be taken with a main meal.

Regarding your last question, we currently do not have availability of D3 Drops, the vitamin D-based supplement most suitable for your wife.

Best regards,
