Bipolar Disorder: What is the Ideal Omega-3 Dosage?
Good evening; I suffer from bipolar disorder; I was advised to take omega-3, which would be helpful in my case of depression due to bipolar disorder. My question is: what dosage should I take as a reference to achieve results without exceeding safe limits? Thank you for your attention. Best regards
Dear Sir,
Omega-3 fatty acids can be supportive in the treatment of depressive disorders, and in this case the recommended dosage is about 1 gram of EPA and DHA per day, which corresponds to at least 2 softgels of Omegor Vitality 1000 (available in packs of 30 or 45 capsules). If you are currently undergoing pharmacological treatment, I recommend informing your doctor. The doctor must always be informed of any dietary supplementation you intend to start, especially if combined with medication.
You may take the softgels in a single dose or split into two doses before a meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). The supplementation period should be at least 2-3 months. Here is a link to our blog where results of some studies on the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acid supplementation in bipolar disorder are reported.
I remain available for further information.
