Cholesterol, what is the difference between Meaquor and Vitality?
I would like to buy one of your products but I do not understand the difference between Meaquor 1000 and Omegor Vitality 1000; I only noticed there is a price difference. I have high triglycerides and cholesterol slightly above the limit. Alessandro
Dear Alessandro,
If you want to act on cholesterol, perhaps the most suitable products are Eulipid or Cardiol, two supplements from our line specifically formulated to help control cholesterol. But first, I would like to clarify the difference between the two products Meaquor and Omegor Vitality 1000. Meaquor 1000 is our product with the highest concentration of omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. It is a supplement that can be recommended in case of hypertriglyceridemia; in fact:
- 2 g per day of EPA and DHA can help maintain normal blood triglyceride levels;
- this dosage is achieved with 2 or 3 capsules per day of Meaquor 1000, to be taken with a main meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner).
Omegor Vitality 1000 (available in packs of 30 and 45 capsules) is a concentrated fish oil dietary supplement, providing 630 mg of EPA+DHA per capsule. Omegor Vitality is recommended in these cases:
- as a nutritional supplement, if fish is not regularly consumed in the diet (recommended dosage 1 to 3 capsules per day);
- to support normal cardiac function (1 capsule per day);
- if following the Zone diet (3 capsules per day);
- to help reduce inflammation (2–3 capsules per day), which sometimes may manifest through “unexpected” symptoms such as headache, malaise, dry skin, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression...
Both Meaquor 1000 and Vitality 1000 are certified with 5 stars IFOS for purity, absence of contaminants, omega-3 concentration, freshness, and stability. They are both excellent products. However, although supplementation with omega-3 EPA and DHA directly affects triglyceride levels, it does not have a specific action on total cholesterol and LDL values.
Therefore, during supplementation you may not observe a cholesterol-lowering effect. But if your goal is to act on cholesterol control, then I recommend discussing with your doctor the possibility of using a dietary supplement like Cardiol or Eulipid, which have targeted formulations to act on borderline and high cholesterol by helping to control blood levels.
You can find here and here the direct links to the product sheets of these two products.
I remain available for further information. Best regards, Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
