Is cod liver oil helpful for high cholesterol?

Is cod liver oil useful against high cholesterol?

Dear Elizabeta,

Omegor Classic is a dietary supplement based on cod liver oil. It naturally contains omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, vitamins D3 and A. Additionally, it is enriched with vitamin E.

Regarding its omega-3 content, it benefits the cardiovascular system and the brain.

Moreover, Omegor Classic can also boast maintaining visual capacity and normal skin due to the presence of vitamin A and maintaining normal bones and teeth thanks to vitamin D, which is also useful for the immune system.

Indeed, it is a product concentrated in Omega-3, useful for the physiological well-being of the organism.

The recommended dose is 5-10 ml per day, equivalent to 1-2 teaspoons. It can be taken as is or mixed with cold or lukewarm foods such as cream cheese, yogurt, or others to one’s liking.

To lower cholesterol levels, I recommend a more specific product, Cardiol Forte.

Specifically, Cardiol Forte contains different and synergistic ingredients to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels.

CARDIOL FORTE contains a combination of Omega-3 EPA/DHA, Total Monacolins and Olive Polyphenols (hydroxytyrosol) which protect LDL cholesterol from oxidation, along with a artichoke extract supported by a clinical study, with effects on lipid profile and hepatoprotective activity.

Regarding the artichoke extract in the formula, it is a powder extract obtained from artichoke leaves Cynara cardunculus L. standardized to 10% chlorogenic acid and derivatives (bio-phenols) and 2% luteolin 7-glucoside and derivatives (flavonoids). The bio-phenols contained in the artichoke extract have choleretic, cholagogue, and hepatoprotective activities. Meanwhile, the flavonoids present inhibit cholesterol biosynthesis and protect LDL from oxidative damage.

A clinical evaluation of the extract was conducted for effects on liver function and cardiometabolic health. The study examined 100 subjects with metabolic syndrome at three different levels of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Specifically, after 6 months, a reduction in total cholesterol of 13.6%, 17.2% in triglycerides, and a reduction of circulating LDL by 15.9% compared to placebo was observed.

An improvement of endothelial function by 4.64% and a reduction in carotid intima thickness were also recorded. Important factors for preventing atherosclerosis.

Therefore, I recommend taking Cardiol Forte 1 capsule daily shortly before dinner for 2-3 months and then repeating blood tests to reevaluate cholesterol levels.
