Depression, Anxiety and Panic Attacks: Which is Better: VitaDHA or Omegor Vitality?

I have been taking paroxetine since July 2015 following a quite disabling postpartum depression and severe anxiety and panic attacks. I took one 20 mg tablet until September 2016, then I started to reduce the medication until reaching 7.5 mg, almost a quarter of a tablet, but unfortunately, about 20 days ago, I had to increase the dose due to severe antidepressant withdrawal effects. I asked an herbalist who recommended omega-3, and my doctor said I can take them alongside my pharmacological therapy. My question is which product to focus on: VitalDHA with a higher concentration of DHA or Omegor Vitality which instead has a higher concentration of EPA compared to DHA?

Dear Stefania,

Many scientific studies highlight the positive effect of omega-3 EPA and DHA in mood disorders. EPA and DHA regulate the production of neurotransmitters (such as dopamine and serotonin) and promote mood balance, calm, and coordination. Depression also appears to be associated with a relative increase in omega-6 fatty acid levels compared to omega-3 levels.

Several studies have suggested a correlation between omega-3 deficiency and a higher risk of postpartum depression, documenting their protective effect against the risk of perinatal depression due to their anti-inflammatory and neuroplastic action, and showing a high frequency of omega-3 deficiency in women who display depressive symptoms during the perinatal period

In light of this scientific evidence, if your trusted doctor agrees, I recommend trying supplementation with Omegor Vitality 1000, a fish oil-based product rich in omega-3. Each softgel contains 420 milligrams of EPA and 210 milligrams of DHA in triglyceride form, which is highly absorbable and digestible by the body; 2 capsules of Omegor Vitality 1000 per day ensure the daily intake of 1 g of omega-3 EPA and DHA.
