What is the difference between Cardiol and Eulipid?
What is the difference between Cardiol and Eulipid?
Dear Doctor,
Below is a description of the supplements Cardiol and Eulipid.
Cardiol
Cardiol is a supplement formulated to support cardiovascular system health by acting on multiple fronts. This product is useful when a strong cholesterol-lowering action is desired, combined with a good ability to normalize other blood lipid values. The Omega-3s present help to:
- reduce blood triglycerides;
- promote an increase in "good" HDL cholesterol;
- stabilize heart rate and rhythm.
Cardiol contains 3 mg per capsule of monacolin K, a natural statin with a structure very similar to lovastatin. Lovastatin is a selective inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase), a key enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis. Recent clinical studies have shown that the combination of fish oil and red yeast rice is effective in reducing cholesterol levels comparable to prescription statins. Cardiol has been taken with satisfactory results and without side effects even by patients intolerant to statins. Other components of the formulation (bioflavonoids, policosanols, tocotrienols, vitamin B3) work synergistically with red yeast rice to effectively promote LDL cholesterol reduction. Folic acid and vitamin B12 also help reduce plasma homocysteine levels. The antioxidant content (resveratrol, coenzyme Q10, sesamin, piperine) helps counteract oxidative stress, one of the main causes of cellular deterioration. The recommended dose for Cardiol is 1 capsule per day, preferably taken before dinner.
Eulipid
Eulipid is a supplement that does not contain fish oil and whose main component is berberine. As demonstrated by several scientific studies, berberine has a lipid-lowering effect as well as a blood sugar-lowering effect similar to metformin. Moreover, the combination of berberine and Citrus bioflavonoids, also present in Eulipid, reduces postprandial hyperglycemia in overweight individuals. The formulation also contains bioflavonoids and policosanols; together with resveratrol, tocotrienols, and CoQ10, these help rebalance blood levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. Eulipid can be a valid alternative for the treatment of dyslipidemias (as well as metabolic syndrome), especially in cases of poor response or intolerance to statin treatment. The recommended daily dose is 1 tablet per day, preferably before dinner. One package is sufficient for one month of supplementation.
