I suffer from guttate psoriasis, can Omega-3 be useful in treating this pathology?
Dear Alessandro,
Psoriasis is an inflammatory condition; therefore, oral supplementation with Omega-3 and Omega-6 GLA (gamma-linolenic acid) is recommended due to their strong anti-inflammatory activity.
These fatty acids reduce levels of pro-inflammatory eicosanoids (hormone-like molecules regulating the inflammatory response) in favor of those with milder activity, leading to:
- a progressive decrease of the inflammatory response;
- a gradual improvement.
I suggest you try Omegor Twinefa, a synergistic formulation of Omega-3 (EPA and DHA) and Omega-6 (GLA). The recommended Omega-3 dosage for psoriasis can be as high as 6 grams, but I advise starting with 3-4 capsules of Omegor Twinefa for about 2 months.
After this period, you can discuss with your doctor the possibility of increasing the dosage up to 6 capsules daily. Each capsule of Omegor Twinefa provides 600 mg of EPA+DHA in the re-esterified triglyceride form, which is absorbed about 70% more effectively compared to ethyl esters, the form found in many other Omega-3 supplements on the market.
Therefore, even just 3 capsules ensure a daily intake of 3 grams of EPA and DHA. Take Omegor Twinefa capsules before a main meal, either all at once or spread out during the day according to your needs. If you have difficulty swallowing, you can pierce the capsules and take the oil alone, as it is deodorized and orange-flavored.
Thank you for reaching out, and I remain available for any further questions.
Best regards,
Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
