Ask the Pharmacist

Hypertension and dyspepsia, can I take Omegor Vitality?

I suffer from a mild form of hypertension, especially my diastolic pressure is a bit high. I would like to purchase Omegor Vitality 1000 but I have a problem: I suffer from dyspepsia and gastroesophageal reflux, and I also have digestive difficulties. I would like to know if I can take the product you recommend for hypertension. Awaiting your reply, best regards.

Dear Vito,

To act on hypertension, even in the presence of dyspepsia, you can take Omegor Vitality 1000 without fearing side effects – but provided you use some initial precautions, that is, when you start taking the supplement.

Omegor Vitality and hypertension

4 pearls of Omegor Vitality 1000 per day contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure levels. This is stated by the European Commission, which just last year recognized the ability of omega‐3 EPA and DHA fatty acids to contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure levels if taken at a dose of 3 g per day – corresponding precisely to 4 pearls of Omegor Vitality 1000. Regular consumption of omega-3 EPA and DHA could therefore promote a moderate reduction in blood pressure through increased vascular compliance and a slight increase in peripheral vasodilation.

Omegor Vitality and dyspepsia: some precautions to avoid discomfort

In the presence of dyspepsia and therefore related digestive difficulties, if you want to start omega‐3 supplementation even at doses lower than those just indicated, you should proceed as follows:

  • Initially, to minimize gastrointestinal side effects that may occur due to dyspepsia, you can take small doses of Omegor Vitality during meals.
  • You could start taking 1 capsule per day of Omegor Vitality 1000 for a period of 2 weeks.
  • You could then gradually increase the dose to 2 capsules per day for another 2 weeks and so on, always gradually.

To act on blood pressure, I also recommend doing moderate aerobic physical activity with slow and prolonged muscle work, such as walking daily for 30 consecutive minutes. Finally, I recommend informing your doctor if you decide to start omega‐3 supplementation.
