How can I lower my LDL cholesterol levels?
I would like advice on lowering HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. Thank you.
Dear Antonio,
I do not know your LDL cholesterol values, so I cannot give you a precise answer on this.
Normal blood values:
- Total cholesterol: from 120 to 220 milligrams per deciliter of blood.
- HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol): from 40 to 80 milligrams per deciliter.
- LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol): from 70 to 180 milligrams per deciliter.
Omega-3s are important nutrients for the proper functioning of the body. They particularly influence blood HDL concentrations (favoring their increase) and contribute to lowering triglycerides. However, Omega-3 fatty acids alone are not particularly effective at reducing total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. In borderline subjects, with total cholesterol levels around 240 milligrams per deciliter, we recommend another formulation: Cardiol. Cardiol combines Omega-3s (450 milligrams per capsule) with:
- red yeast rice;
- policosanols;
- other active ingredients more specifically targeting hypercholesterolemia.
Red yeast rice contains monacolin K (3mg/capsule), a natural statin with a structure very similar to lovastatin. The combination of fish oil and red yeast rice is effective in reducing cholesterol levels on par with prescription statins. Even in patients intolerant to statins, Cardiol has been used with satisfactory results and without side effects.
Bioflavonoids, policosanols, tocotrienols, and vitamin B3 work synergistically with red yeast rice to effectively promote the reduction of LDL cholesterol. The recommended daily dose of Cardiol is 1 softgel per day, to be taken in the evening just before dinner for a period of at least 2 months.
After this period, you can repeat the tests to verify the effectiveness of the supplementation. My advice is to discuss your situation with your primary care physician, who knows your medical history, and evaluate with them the possibility of using Cardiol alongside a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Best regards.
