My son has mild ADHD: can he take Omega-3?
I take 3 capsules of Omegor Vitality per day. I would like to know if I can use the new product Omegor Antiage, at what dosage, and how to manage it in relation to Vitality. Additionally, I would like to know if the new Omegor Antiage could be harmful to the fetus. Kind regards and thank you, Francesca
Dear Massimiliano,
I recommend discussing with your son's pediatrician the use of VitaDHA 1000, a dietary supplement in capsules. It is a rich and concentrated formula of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA Plus) derived from purified and deodorized fish oil through multiple molecular distillation. The DHA Plus in VitaDHA 1000 is highly bioavailable because it is in natural triglyceride form, a structure easily assimilated by the body.
Our brain is made up of over 60% fat, and most long-chain omega-3 fatty acids in our body are located in the brain, with DHA being the main component of the cellular membranes of the nervous system. Many scientific studies show that DHA deficiency in children may be associated with decreased attention, learning abilities, and hyperactivity, behaviors typical in ADHD. Below is a link to a Spanish study on children aged 6 to 18 with ADHD using high-DHA content supplements: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31190827/.
Moreover, omega-3 fatty acids help maintain adequate dopamine levels. When this neurotransmitter drops, attention disorders, decreased concentration on immediate tasks, and movement disorders become more likely. I recommend 2–3 capsules per day of VitaDHA 1000 before a main meal. If your son has difficulty swallowing capsules, I recommend a valid alternative in liquid form with the same content characteristics: VitaDHA liquid. VitaDHA liquid contains an even purer and more natural fish oil produced through a refining process that preserves the natural form of the oil as much as possible, keeps it stable longer, and gives it a neutral taste.
Additionally, the formula has been enhanced with lemon flavor. I recommend one sachet of VitaDHA liquid every other day before a main meal, or it can be added to cold foods such as yogurt or spreadable cheese. It is important for the doctor to monitor the situation and any improvements, and if necessary, adjust the daily dosage based on the physiological results achieved. In general, supplementation should continue for at least 2–3 months and can be prolonged without side effects, especially during the entire school period.
Best regards,
Beatrice Iozzino, pharmacist
