I would like to give my 6 year old Omega-3. Is DHA or EPA better? In what dosage?
I would like to give my 6-year-old child Omega-3. Is DHA or EPA better? At what dosage?
Dear Ms. Colitti,
The ratio and quantity of EPA and DHA depend on the desired effect.
To supplement your child’s diet with Omega-3, I recommend Omegor Kids. This product contains 200 mg of algal DHA and effectively supports physical, intellectual, and behavioral development in children. The formula also includes:
- Vitamins D3 and C, important for supporting the immune system;
- Honey, a natural energy source with known antibacterial, soothing, and softening properties.
The Omegor Kids formula is liquid, available in single-dose sachets. Thanks to its pleasant taste, it is well-liked by children. Each sachet can be taken alone—perhaps as a snack—or added to plain yogurt.
VitaDHA is a better choice if you are looking to supplement Omega-3 for learning disorders, dyslexia, dyspraxia (ADHD). It provides a high amount of Omega-3, especially DHA (1250 mg of DHA and 360 mg of EPA).
This formulation has a DHA-favored ratio, as many scientific studies have shown high doses of DHA are effective in individuals with learning difficulties. It also comes in a liquid format with single-dose sachets for easy use.
Lastly, I’d like to mention Omegor Vitality, an EPA and DHA supplement with a 2:1 ratio between the two Omega-3 fatty acids. Each capsule contains 200 mg of EPA and 100 mg of DHA.
Omegor Vitality can help improve general health and reduce certain inflammatory symptoms that may not be immediately noticeable. It comes in capsule form, to be swallowed before main meals. If needed, the capsules can be pierced and the contents added to fruit yogurt.
I hope this explanation has clarified your doubts. I remain available for any further questions.
Best regards,
Dr. Rosaria Ramondino, Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
