Which Omega-3 supplement for an 8 year old with dyslexia and attention deficit disorder?

Dear Rossana,

I recommend that your son's physician evaluate the use of VitaDHA 1000, a dietary supplement in capsule form. It is a rich and concentrated formula containing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA Plus) derived from purified and deodorized fish oil through multiple molecular distillation. The DHA Plus in VitaDHA 1000 is highly bioavailable because it is in natural triglyceride form, which is easily absorbed by the body. The brain is composed of more than 60% fat, and most long-chain omega-3 fatty acids in the body are located in the brain—DHA being a major component of nervous system cell membranes.

Many scientific studies have linked DHA deficiency in children to dyslexia, dyspraxia, and hyperactivity. Additionally, omega-3 fatty acids help maintain adequate dopamine levels. When dopamine levels drop, attention disorders, reduced focus, and motor disturbances are more likely. I recommend 2–3 capsules per day of VitaDHA 1000 before a main meal.

If your child has difficulty swallowing capsules, a valid alternative is the liquid form, which has the same content characteristics: VitaDHA liquid. It contains an even purer and more natural fish oil, refined to preserve its natural structure, maintain stability longer, and provide a neutral flavor. The formula is also enhanced with lemon flavor. I recommend one sachet of VitaDHA liquid every other day before a main meal, or mixed into cold foods like yogurt or spreadable cheese. In general, supplementation should last at least 2–3 months and can be safely prolonged, especially throughout the school year.

In any case, it is preferable that supplementation be monitored by a specialist who can track and measure progress over time, and adjust the duration of supplementation accordingly. I hope this has been helpful. Please feel free to contact me for further questions, and I send my best wishes for your son.
