Omegor Kids for behavioral disorders and dyslexia
Dear Dr. Ramondino, I have an 11-year-old son with dyslexia and also a 13-year-old daughter with mild difficulties. For this reason, I have already given them Omegor Kids syrup. I would like to have your advice on whether this is the appropriate product for both and for how long it should be taken. Thank you and best regards.
Dear Isabella,
Supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids is always helpful during growth and development to provide the body with these essential nutrients. The product Omegor Kids syrup that you have used for your children is certainly suitable for their age group, but in cases of behavioral disorders and dyslexia, I recommend trying the product VitaDHA, a liquid product but more concentrated in omega-3 DHA fatty acids.
Our brain is composed of more than 60% fat, and most of the long-chain omega-3 fatty acids present in our body are located in the brain, particularly DHA, the main component of the nervous system cell membranes. Many scientific studies report that a DHA deficiency in children can be related to dyslexia, dyspraxia, and hyperactivity.
Furthermore, omega-3 fatty acids help maintain adequate dopamine levels; when levels of this neurotransmitter drop, it is more likely to experience attention disorders, reduced ability to concentrate on immediate tasks, and movement disorders.
VitaDHA contains even purer and more natural fish oil and is produced with a refining process that preserves as much as possible the natural form of the oil, keeps it stable longer, and gives it a neutral taste. Moreover, the formulation has been completed with the addition of lemon flavor. I recommend for both your 11 and 13-year-old children one vial every other day before a main meal or mixed with cold foods such as yogurt or cream cheese. The supplementation should be continued for at least 2-3 months and can be carried out without side effects. I recommend informing your doctor, who can appreciate the physiological benefits of the supplementation and, based on these, possibly adjust the daily dosage.
Best regards, Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
