Oppositional Behaviors and Difficulties at School. What Supplement for a Little Girl?
Good morning, I would like to supplement Omega 3 and 6 for my 6-year-old daughter. We are having a specialist evaluation to understand if there are any weaknesses behind the behaviors and difficulties she is experiencing at the beginning of primary school (she shows a very oppositional attitude towards school activities). Observations already made by a psychotherapist in the past do not suggest she is hyperactive, while sometimes she seems to have difficulties maintaining attention. However, she is able to spend a long time on a game she likes, organize her toys, complete puzzles, build with blocks following instructions, and follow long stories read to her. I would like to support her with supplementation also because from a dietary point of view she has some gaps (in particular she hates fish and I manage to make her eat it only in the form of frozen fish sticks). If possible, I would like to have your suggestion. Thank you
Dear Anna Rita,
Children with attention deficits or behavioral disorders often benefit from consuming DHA, an omega-3 present in high concentrations in neuron membranes and playing important roles in the nervous system and retina. DHA helps maintain normal brain and visual functions with a daily intake of at least 250 milligrams.
If the pediatrician or the specialist following your daughter agrees, I recommend supplementation with the product VitaDHA. This is a dietary supplement with high amounts of omega-3; each vial contains 1450 milligrams of DHA and 330 milligrams of EPA. The product is made with deodorized fish oil flavored with lemon, particularly suitable for children due to its neutral and pleasant taste. However, I remind you that dietary supplements are not a therapy but should be understood as nutritional support.
