Omega-3 Blister Packaging: Why?

Why are your capsules packaged in blister packs, like medicine? Could they also be marketed in a jar with a lid? In my opinion, that would be a more convenient solution for taking supplements in general. You must have your reasons for selling them in blister packs. If so, what are they?

Dear Simone,

the choice to dispense omega-3 capsules in blister packs is driven by the desire to best preserve each individual unit of the product, maintaining its quality and freshness. Each capsule is individually packaged in aluminum and PVDC blister packs, materials that are among the most expensive but the best against exposure to air and humidity.

In multi-dose bottles, when the jar is opened, all units of the product come into contact with the external environment, including gases, humidity, etc. The blister pack instead protects each capsule individually, which in this case would only come into contact with the external environment for a few moments before being ingested.

Capsules dispensed in blister packs do not stick together as they do when packaged in jars. Furthermore, the last omega-3 fatty acid capsule in the multi-dose bottle will certainly be more oxidized than the first, because it has come into repeated contact with the external environment during the daily opening of the bottle for product intake. Our products are the best in quality, which also depends on the packaging and thus the preservation of the capsules, as explained above.

Best regards,

Beatrice Iozzino, pharmacist.
