Radioactivity: Products are tested
Dear Madam,
Thank you for contacting us and for your feedback, which we positively welcome as an opportunity to add more information on our website about the quality of our products. The fish oil used in our products is produced in GMP-certified facilities (Good Manufacturing Practices) that apply strict quality systems according to pharmaceutical standards and ensure the absence of any form of ionizing radiation.
Radioactivity parameters are continuously monitored in the raw starting material, crude fish oil, even before it enters the multiple molecular distillation process—a technological process that removes contaminants normally present in fish such as PCBs, dioxins and furans, and heavy metals. In Europe, the limits for radioactivity in food and dietary supplements are established by EU Regulation 733 of 2008, which sets a cumulative radioactivity limit for cesium 134 and cesium 137 below 600 Becquerel/kg.
Since the Fukushima incident, all crude fish oils of the raw materials we use have been tested for potential contents of Cesium 134, Cesium 137, and Iodine 131.
All recorded results have always been below the analytical detection limit, i.e., < 3 Becquerel/kg.
