Are Omega-3s Helpful for Reducing Dry Skin?
I am 60 years old and have very dry skin. My pharmacist recommended that I take Omega-3. What do you think?
Dear Loredana,
your pharmacist’s advice is perfectly valid. Lipids are essential to ensure the structural and functional integrity of the skin.
They play an important role at the level of the stratum corneum: they enable the proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes (the structural cells of skin, nails, and hair), thus making the skin more hydrated and healthy, and the hair stronger.
The most suitable product for you is Omegor Antiage, a formulation rich in active ingredients with beneficial effects for:
- skin nourishment
- microcirculation
- reduction of inflammatory conditions
The main nutrients are the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA and the Omega-6 fatty acid GLA from borage oil. Several scientific studies have shown that the combination of Omega-3 and Omega-6 is particularly useful for:
- ensuring proper skin nourishment;
- providing an effective anti-inflammatory action;
- balancing mood.
The anti-inflammatory effect of GLA has also been studied for combating excessive skin dryness, skin aging, and atopic eczema. The formulation of Omegor Antiage also contains important nutrients with strong antioxidant activity: resveratrol, curcumin, tocotrienols, and coenzyme Q10. These antioxidants are able to:
- counteract the formation of free radicals;
- prevent the inflammatory and oxidative processes that underlie aging and the loss of skin tone and elasticity.
The recommended dose is 1 capsule per day, to be taken before a main meal. To increase daily Omega-3 intake, you can combine Omegor Antiage with 1 capsule of Omegor Twinefa, a simpler formulation containing only the fatty acids EPA, DHA, and GLA.
I hope this has been helpful, and I invite you to contact us again for any further information.
Kind regards,
Dr. Rosaria Ramondino Pharmacist and Pharmaceutical Chemist
