Sucralose in Children's Supplements: Is It Safe?

Good evening, I am looking for an omega-3 supplement for my 10-year-old daughter. Omegor Kids chewable is in a form suitable for children and would be easy to administer. However, I am concerned about the use of sucralose. I would like to ask if you have a liquid product available without sucralose.

Dear Francesca,

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener derived from sucrose. It is a molecule 650 times sweeter than sugar and is used as a sweetener in many foods and beverages. The WHO (World Health Organization) sets the acceptable daily intake of sucralose at 15 mg/kg of body weight.

Furthermore, according to EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), the sweetener sucralose (E955) is safe. Scientific data evaluations confirm the safety of the sweetener even for children and pregnant or breastfeeding women. For more information, please see the link. Omegor Kids chewable capsules contain about 0.6 mg/capsule of sucralose. The recommended dose is 1-2 capsules per day, corresponding to a maximum of about 1.2 mg of sucralose per day.

These are very low and acceptable levels, even if your daughter consumes sucralose from other food sources. We share this to explain the care and attention given to safety in our products. In any case, if you prefer a liquid product without sucralose, you can consider Omegor Kids syrup, an omega-3 DHA and EPA supplement of plant origin extracted from marine algae and enriched with vitamins C and D3 in a tasty orange-flavored honey liquid emulsion, designed to support your child’s growth.

We remain available for further information.
