Which omega-3 in case of premenstrual syndrome in a borderline subject?

Good evening, I would like to know which supplement would be most suitable for a 27-year-old girl diagnosed as "borderline" with anxiety, depression, and self-harming behaviors, also suffering from premenstrual syndrome. She is already on antidepressants, Rivotril, and Alprazolam. Should she only take omega-3 or omega-6 as well? Thank you!

Dear Violetta,

Many scientific studies show the positive effect of omega-3 fatty acids in mood disorders, anxiety, and depression, as they help regulate the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin, promoting mood balance, calmness, and coordination. Taking into account the premenstrual syndrome as well, the most useful product would be Omegor Twinefa, a supplement containing omega-3 EPA and DHA from fish oil and omega-6 GLA from borage oil.

The minimum dose of omega-3 EPA and DHA considered in studies that evaluated their effect on anxiety and depression is at least 1 gram per day, which can be achieved with 2 capsules of Omegor Twinefa, to be taken close to a meal. This dosage is also useful for alleviating the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome.

It is important that this supplementation is undertaken in agreement with the treating physician, who should always be informed about any supplements that are intended to be taken, especially when combined with pharmacological therapy.
